Washington Young Surveyors Network

Build Your Career. Build Your Community.

WA-YSN connects students and early-career surveying professionals with the mentorship, education, community, and professional opportunities that help carry them through licensure and into leadership.

With the support of the Land Surveyors' Association of Washington and the National Society of Professional Surveyors, WA-YSN creates opportunities to connect, learn, participate, and help shape the future of the surveying profession.

Washington Young Surveyors Network

Our Purpose

WA YSN exists to strengthen the pathway into the surveying profession and make sure the next generation has the support, opportunities, and professional community needed to succeed.

Mission

Support the Next Generation of Washington Surveyors

WA YSN connects students and early-career professionals to mentors, opportunities, and each other. We help build pathways from first exposure to the profession through licensure and into leadership while ensuring the early-career perspective is represented in conversations shaping the future of surveying.

Vision

A Profession That Renews Itself With Every Generation

We envision a Washington where people entering surveying find mentors and a clear path to licensure, where Young Surveyors are active participants in the profession today, and where the professional community they find is one worth building a career in.

What We Value

01

Mentorship

Connecting students and early-career surveyors with experienced practitioners so no one has to navigate the profession alone.

02

Growth

Creating deliberate opportunities to learn and supporting members through exams, experience requirements, licensure, and career decisions.

03

Community

Bringing Washington's Young Surveyors together and building professional relationships that extend beyond any one employer, crew, or project.

04

Voice

Ensuring early-career professionals participate in professional associations and develop into the next generation of association leaders.

05

Outreach

Helping introduce surveying to students, career changers, and the public through career fairs, classrooms, outreach activities, and everyday conversations.
