WA State Low Distortion Projection Network Workshop 1 - East side
Tuesday, September 29, 2026 1:00 PM-3:00 PM
Microsoft Teams Meeting
Purpose of the Workshop
The Washington State geospatial community increasingly relies on accurate, consistent spatial data for engineering, transportation, natural resources, emergency response, and land management. Low Distortion Projections offer a modernized framework that improves survey-to-GIS alignment, reduces ground to grid distortion, and enhances interoperability across agencies and systems.
During this workshop, we will:
- Introduce the initiative, providing brief concept and benefits of Low Distortion Projections
- Present the proposed statewide LDP network
- Demonstrate the review tool designed to gather feedback on individual zones
- Seek your input and support to ensure the network reflects operational needs, Tribal considerations, regulatory requirements, and practical field workflows
Why Your Participation Matters
The success of a statewide LDP network depends on diverse perspectives. Your experience - whether in policy, surveying, GIS, resource management, or engineering - will help shape a solution that works across jurisdictions and disciplines. This workshop is an opportunity to collaborate early, evaluate proposal details, and build consensus on modernization efforts that will benefit Washington’s geospatial landscape for years to come.
