LSAW Members are eligible for and receive discounts on their dues to the National Society of Professional Surveyors. To recieve this discount you will need to submit the the NSPS Discounted Dues application.

LSAW Membership Categories
Application for membership or affiliation shall be in the form prescribed by the Board of Trustees, and shall be accompanied by the new member admission fee and applicable annual dues. The following classifications of membership are available through the Land Surveyors' Assocation of Washington:
- General Member: A person currently licensed to practice Professional Land Surveying in Washington state. [Note: Those licensed as a Professional Land Surveyors states other than Washington, may join as Professional Affiliates. See category below.]
- Associate Member: A person who is closely related to the surveying profession who is not eligible for General Membership (above), and whose membership has been approved by the Board of Trustees.
- Student Member: A person pursuing a course of study as a graduate or undergraduate student on a full time basis, as defined by the academic institution, leading to a career in the profession of surveying or in related professions.
- Retired Member: A person who has been a member in good standing for five(5) years may petition the board for Retired member status. The petition must be signed by the President of the petitioner's Chapter. The Retired member must be at least fifty-five (55) years of age and is no longer actively engaged in any field of surveying.
- Professional Affiliate:
- A person who is licensed to practice land surveying in another state, province or political jurisdiction, but who is not licensed to pratice in Washington;
or
- A person qualified to practice allied professions, including cartography, photogrammetry, geodesy, engineering, law, title insurance or others acceptable to the Board of Trustees.
- Honorary Member: A person who is at least fifty (50) years of age and who is recognized as an individual of superior stature in Land Surveying or the fields closely related thereto and whose nomination has been approved by the Board of Trustees.
- Life Member: Current Members of any category who are at least sixty-five (65) years of age, has been a Member in the association for at least fifteen (15) continuous years, who has formally requested such status, shall be known as a Life Member and shall retain all prior rights and privileges. Life Membership shall also be subject to annual request for renewal.
- Non-Resident Member: A person eligible for and accorded General Membership status who resides and works exclusively outside of Washington State.
LSAW Membership Dues
All New Member Dues include $15.00 initiation fee and LSAW lapel pin and new member packet.Full dues are collected for all new members regardless of joining date. Those Board-approved during any calendar year retain 'current' dues status and will not be rebilled until June of the next calendar year. Contact headquarters for specific portion of dues that are not deductible for income tax purposes.

NSPS Membership Categories
LSAW Members are eligible for and receive discounts on their dues to the National Society of Professional Surveyors.
Regular Member An individual is eligible to be a Regular Member if he or she is:
- (1) Licensed Member. An individual is eligible to be a Licensed Member if he or she is a person licensed to practice the profession of surveying, according to state or provincial statutes.
- (2a) A person practicing the profession of surveying, who has attained the professional qualifications, required and is classified as 'Land Surveyor' or 'Supervisory Land Surveyor,' according to series GS 1373 of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management;
- (2b) An academician holding a bachelor of science degree and the rank of assistant professor or higher and teaching surveying in a two or four year surveying program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) or the Canadian Accreditation Board (CAB) or approved by the appropriate State Land Registration Board; or
- (2c) A person practicing the profession of surveying, or teaching surveying, who has attained a minimum of ten years experience in responsible charge of surveying activities, or a combination of four years education and sufficient experience in responsible charge totaling ten years.
Associate Member Any person who by employment is actively engaged in a program leading to a career in the profession of surveying.
Student Member Any person pursuing a course of study as a graduate or undergraduate student on a full-time basis (as defined by the academic institution) leading to a career in surveying, geographic or land information systems, or cartography is eligible for Student Membership. (Includes the ACSM Bulletin, the SaLIS Journal, the CaGIS Journal and membership in all organizations - AAGS, CaGIS, GLIS, NSPS)
Multi Member Company This is designed for companies that have two or more NSPS members. The second membership from the company would receive a 5% discount, the third would get a 10% discount, and the discount would continue through the 10th membership which would get a 45% discount. The eleventh and all additional memberships would be at 50% of the full membership fee. |
