Your dues are payable by credit card online or by check made payable to LSAW. If paying by check, please use this printable form to update your contact data and return it to the LSAW office via fax, email or post. The contact information is on the form. NEW Member Application

You may join online or complete the printable New Member Form and mail it to the address on the application or email it to info@LSAW.org. Your application will be processed and your prorated dues will be invoiced and emailed to you. Membership will become active upon receipt of payment.

LSAW Membership Categories

Application for membership or affiliation shall be in the form prescribed by the Board of Trustees, and shall be accompanied by the new member admission fee and applicable annual dues. The following classifications of membership are available through the Land Surveyors' Association of Washington:

General Membership

  • Member: A currently licensed Professional Land Surveyor of Washington.

  • Non-Resident Member: A person eligible for and accorded General Membership status who resides and works exclusively outside of Washington State.

  • New Registrant Member: A person applying for Member status at the time of annual renewal subsequent to, or, within 48 months of, registration in Washington State. This category/status will terminate and transform to Member category/status at the time of the second succeeding annual renewal.

Limited Membership

  • Associate Member: A person who is closely related to the surveying profession who is not eligible for General Membership.

  • Honorary Member: A person who is not less than fifty(50) years of age and who is recognized as an individual of superior stature in Land Surveying or the fields closely related thereto and whose nomination has been approved by the Board of Trustees.

  • Professional Affiliate : A person licensed to practice land surveying in another state, province or political jurisdiction, but is not licensed to practice in Washington, or,
    A person licensed or qualified to practice allied professions including cartography, photogrammetry, geodesy, engineering, law, title insurance, or others acceptable to the Board of Trustees.

  • Retired Member: A Member may petition LSAW for Retired Member status if they meet the following criteria and sign a statement to the effect that:
    1. They have been a member in good standing for five (5) years;
    2. They are at least fifty-five (55) years of age;
    3. They are no longer actively engaged in any field of surveying; and
    4. The petition is signed by the President of the petitioner’s Chapter.

  • Student Member: A person pursuing a course of study as a graduate or undergraduate student on a full time basis, as defined by the academic institution, leading to a career in the profession of surveying or in related professions.

  • Life Member: Current members of any category who are at least sixty-five (65) years of age, has been a member in the association for at least fifteen (15) continuous years, who has formally requested such status, shall be known as a Life Member and shall retain all prior rights and privileges. Life Membership shall also be subject to annual request for renewal.

  • Life Member (Vested): A person meeting all the criteria set forth for the category of Life Member, and who was born in or prior to 1935. Life Member (vested) shall also be subject to an annual request for renewal, not being subject to dues of any nature, but given an opportunity to donate to LSAW.

LSAW Membership Dues

All New Member Dues include $15.00 initiation fee and LSAW lapel pin and new member packet. Contact headquarters for specific portion of dues that are not deductible for income tax purposes.

NSPS Membership Categories

Member: An individual is eligible to be a Member if he or she is:

  • (1) Licensed Member. An individual is eligible to be a Licensed Member if he or she is a person licensed to practice the profession of surveying, according to state or provincial statutes.
  • (2a) A person practicing the profession of surveying, who has attained the professional qualifications, required and is classified as 'Land Surveyor' or 'Supervisory Land Surveyor,' according to series GS 1373 of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management;
  • (2b) An academician holding a bachelor of science degree and the rank of assistant professor or higher and teaching surveying in a two or four year surveying program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) or the Canadian Accreditation Board (CAB) or approved by the appropriate State Land Registration Board; or
  • (2c) A person practicing the profession of surveying, or teaching surveying, who has attained a minimum of ten years experience in responsible charge of surveying activities, or a combination of four years education and sufficient experience in responsible charge totaling ten years.

Associate Member Any person who by employment is actively engaged in a program leading to a career in the profession of surveying.

Student Member Any person pursuing a course of study as a graduate or undergraduate student on a full-time basis (as defined by the academic institution) leading to a career in surveying, geographic or land information systems, or cartography is eligible for Student Membership. (Includes the ACSM Bulletin, the SaLIS Journal, the CaGIS Journal and membership in all organizations - AAGS, CaGIS, GLIS, NSPS)

NSPS Membership Dues

LSAW has partnered with NSPS (National Society of Professional Surveyors) for more member benefits. NSPS dues are included for "members" in their LSAW dues this year only. NSPS rates for other membership classes are as follows:
